REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP)

The NFL Foundation Grassroots Program is a partnership of the National Football League Foundation, which provides funding for the Program, and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), which provides technical assistance and manages the Program. The goal of the Program is to provide non-profit, neighborhood-based organizations with financial and technical assistance to improve the quality, safety, and accessibility of local football fields. The NFL Foundation Grassroots Program provides grants of up to $250,000 for capital improvement projects.

NFL & United Way Launch National Character Education Initiative

The NFL and United Way Worldwide today announced the national launch of Character PlaybookTM, a new national education initiative focused on youth character development and healthy relationships. The interactive digital program will be implemented directly in schools in NFL team markets, starting immediately in 14 markets and expanding to all 32 and their surrounding communities over the next three years.

FIFTEEN HIGH SCHOOLS AWARDED $50,000 EACH TO FUND ATHLETIC TRAINERS

The NFL Foundation, the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), Gatorade and the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society (PFATS) today announced the winners of the Athletic Trainer Initiative, a national grant contest to expand access to athletic trainers in underserved high schools and improve youth athlete safety. The fifteen winning schools each received $50,000 to develop athletic training programs that will provide nearly 5,000 student athletes with consistent access to this valuable resource. The announcement was made at the seventh-annual Youth Sports Safety Summit, hosted by NATA and the Youth Sports Safety Alliance.

NFL Foundation Bowling Tournament

In celebration of Super Bowl 50 and in its 10th year, the NFL Foundation is partnering with the NFL Legends Community to host a tournament at Lucky Strike San Francisco, an upscale bowling venue in the heart of San Francisco. The evene will provide amateur bowlers of all skills with the opportunity to play alongside NFL Legends and Super Bowl MVPs. Each bowler will receive a limited edition Super Bowl 50 commemorative bowling ball and pin and will participate in a post-tournament awards ceremony. Participants as well as guests/spectators will be entitled to food and beverages and may bid on items provided by NFL Auction.

NFL ANNOUNCES TEAM NOMINEES FOR WALTER PAYTON NFL MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD PRESENTED BY NATIONWIDE

The NFL announced today the 32 players honored as their team’s Man of the Year. Representing the best of the NFL’s commitment to philanthropy and community impact, these players are now eligible to win the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award presented by Nationwide. The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award recognizes a player for his excellence on and off the field.

Three of these nominees will be selected as finalists for the award, named for the Hall of Fame Chicago Bears running back, Walter Payton, who died in 1999. Finalists will be announced in January 2016.

NFL/LISC GRASSROOTS PROGRAM GRANTS $2.5 MILLION FOR NEW AND REFURBISHED COMMUNITY FOOTBALL FIELDS IN 15 CITIES

Community organizations, schools and parks in 15 cities across the country will receive grants totaling $2.5 million to build or refurbish neighborhood football fields, it was announced today.

The NFL Foundation/LISC Grassroots Program, a partnership between the NFL Foundation and Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), the nation’s leading community development support organization, has committed nearly $40 million to the program since 1998, supporting the creation or refurbishment of 306 fields nationwide.
