NFL GIVES BACK WITH THURSDAY NIGHT’S COLOR RUSH

Posted in: Foundation News, Community, Youth Football

The NFL announced it will continue to contribute all NFL proceeds from the sale of Color Rush jerseys to the NFL Foundation to fund youth health, safety and wellness programs around the country. Tonight's Broncos-Colts Thursday Night Football game will conclude this season's Color Rush campaign, featuring bold, full-color uniforms inspired by current and historic team colors and designs.

Proceeds from the 2017 season will go directly to restoring youth and high school football programs impacted by Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, the Bay Area Wildfires and the Southern California wildfires. The NFL Foundation and USA Football will work with area athletic organizations to determine which local programs are in the most need.

Additionally, proceeds will be used to expand character education programs including the NFL and United Way's Character Playbook- a digital program that uses evidence-based strategies to educate middle school students on how to cultivate and maintain healthy relationships – and the InSideOut Initiative - aimed at transforming the "win-at-all-costs" sports culture in communities.

"Communities nationwide have experienced horrible natural disasters this year and the NFL Foundation is committed to helping youth and high school football programs rebuild," said Executive Director of the NFL Foundation ALEXIA GALLAGHER. "In addition to contributions made towards disaster relief efforts, all NFL proceeds from the sale of Color Rush jerseys will benefit areas in-need. We are excited to grow the impact of the initiative this year by expanding Character Playbook and InSideOut programs throughout the country."

The NFL launched a new campaign this season highlighting beneficiaries of last year's proceeds to demonstrate the direct impact of the Color Rush initiative. In total, sixteen television spots will air during Thursday Night Football over the course of the season featuring youth athletes from the Louisiana Youth Football league, which last year was impacted by devastating floods in the Baton Rouge area. "We are grateful to the NFL Foundation for helping our community rebuild after horrific flooding plagued the South Louisiana region," said Louisiana Youth Football Director LEROY HOLLINS II. "Through the NFL's Color Rush proceeds, our league was able to replace equipment, cover teams and players registration/insurance fees and implement a hydration program with proper supplies. Our program emerged stronger than ever."
