More than 40 former National Football League players will head up the field of amateur bowlers for the 9th Annual NFL Foundation Super Bowl Celebrity Bowling Classic on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., at Bowlmor Chelsea Piers (Pier 60/23rd St. & West Side Highway, New York, NY).  The Celebrity Bowling Classic, sponsored by the Bowling Proprietors Association of America and funded by Citi and the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee, will team four amateur bowlers with celebrities, including current and former NFL players.  Proceeds from the event will benefit the NFL Foundation.

The celebrities – including members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame – will also be joined by a group of wounded warriors from joint base McGuire Air Force, Fort Dix Army and Lakehurst Naval Air in New Jersey who will bowl with each team.

Hall of Famers in attendance will include: JIM TAYLOR, CARL ELLER, HARRY CARSON, TOM MACK, TED HENDRICKS and RICKEY JACKSON. They will be joined by Super Bowl legends and a number of former Giants and Jets players.

Each team will bowl three games using the 3-6-9 handicap system with prizes being awarded to the members of the three top finishing teams.  In addition each bowler will receive a commemorative limited edition Super Bowl XLVIII bowling ball and pin as well as Super Bowl apparel. Participants will enjoy a New York/New Jersey neighborhood-style buffet.  A silent auction hosted by NFL Auction will offer NFL memorabilia and autographed keepsakes.

Sponsored by Go – the brand of the Bowling Proprietors Association of America – the event has been made possible through generous donations by Citi and the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee. Aside from participants and their guests, a limited number of spectators may purchase tickets ($250 each which includes the buffet and soft drinks) at the door on a first-come, first-served basis.
